Climate Mobilization Update

The Climate Mobilization

Dear Wayne,
It is my pride and joy to report that the Climate Emergency Movement has exploded onto the world stage—we are no longer a small voice pushing for radical action on climate and biodiversity loss. Instead, we now have a real seat at the table and a national and global network dedicated to making the necessary possible.
It is still very early and there is much to be done. But this progress is undeniable and together, we will win. We need you to help us stay in this struggle with a donation today.

Our movement matters. At the end of 2018, the City Assembly of London called on the city’s mayor to declare a Climate Emergency, develop emergency plans for achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, and request special powers from the national government to achieve this goal. City leaders pointed to our work and cited the Climate Emergency declarations in Hoboken and Berkeley as foundational documents! And best of all, it worked: London Mayor Sadiq Khan (pictured right, riding a zero-emissions bus) declared a Climate Emergency on December 11, 2018, becoming the largest city to date to join the movement. [1]
Climate Mobilization plays an integral role in the broader Climate Emergency Movement. We have been leveraging our network of leading experts and organizers to inject the most realistic (and thus most aggressive) planning for ClimateMobilization at the City, State, and National levels. We have helped to move the movement toward a truth-based analysis of what really must be done to restore a safe climate (0 degrees of warming!). And we continue to develop planning documents for implementation when the world is ready to mobilize for a fully-restored environment. [2]
Now and going into 2019, we need to take our organization to the next level—we need to reach the masses in a big way, to break through the misinformation of climate deniers and minimizers who offer insufficient solutions. We must keep Climate Mobilization front and center in the political and policy discussions heading into what will be the most consequential political season in U.S. and world history. We need on-the-ground organizers to help channel our massive volunteer energy into action by moving local and state-level decision-makers to declare ClimateEmergency and commit to Climate Mobilization. And we need to raise our minimum budget to help cover our small team and core expenses.
Your donation today maximizes our ability to keep this momentum going through 2019. Now is the time to support this effort with a donation, on behalf of yourself of someone you love.
The bottom line is that this work comes from an unquenchable fire that burns in our hearts — it comes from a commitment to the future we know is possible, and the apocalyptic future that we have a moral duty to avoid. If you’re reading this, you share this fire and this commitment. We are deeply grateful for your collaboration and everything you do to awaken the world to the need for emergency ClimateMobilization.
There are many who put their time and energy into this movement. If you are able, please consider supporting this work with a tax-deductible contribution to help leverage this passion.
Thank you and onward!
Margaret Klein Salamon
Executive Director, Climate Mobilization
